Alissa Rubin in Conversation with Jill Abramson
In early November, 2015, New York Times Paris Bureau Chief Alissa J. Rubin, was flying back to France from a reporting trip in Afghanistan. A few days later, the terrorist attack on the Bataclan theater hit Paris.
A few days later, Rubin was in New York to receive the 2015 John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism. She spoke to her old friend and colleague Jill Abramson (former executive editor of The New York Times) at the Columbia Journalism School on November 19th, 2015.
They spoke about Rubin’s coverage of the Paris attacks, her decades of experience reporting in war zones, and the challenges of covering conflict. “I think, for me, curiosity trumps fear a lot of the time,” Rubin notably said.
