Join us for a screening of Steven Spielberg's "The Post," followed by a Q&A with the screenwriters Josh Singer and Liz Hannah.
The Post, released earlier this year, follows the thrilling story behind the Washington Post's publication of the Pentagon Papers, and pulls the curtain back on the Washington Post's ongoing race with the New York Times to publish. It's also a fascinating human drama about the two people who put their life's work on the line to break the news, The Washington Post's publisher, Katherine Graham (Meryl Streep) and executive editor Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks). In a time of boys club newsrooms, this is the story of one woman’s fight to defend her newspaper and press freedom.
After the screening, we'll be joined by screenwriters Josh Singer and Liz Hannah to discuss how they adapted the story for the silver screen. The conversation will be moderated by duPont-Columbia Awards Director Lisa R. Cohen.
This event is sponsored by the duPont-Columbia Awards and the Columbia Journalism School Documentary Program.
This event is free and open to the public. No RSVP required. Pizza will be served.
